El Jamil
About This Spot
Stepping into El Jamil, you find yourself embraced by a calm yet inviting rhythm—a quiet pause nestled along one of Hipódromo’s tree-lined avenues. The gentle murmur of conversation blends effortlessly with the soft clinks of tea cups and the occasional warmth of laughter, creating a comfortable atmosphere where time seems to loosen its grip. It’s a place that welcomes you to slow down, savour, and share in moments that feel genuine and thoughtfully crafted.
The space itself is unpretentious but carefully considered, with touches that echo a heritage rich in flavors and traditions. A shady patio opens to the street, giving way to an intimacy that feels like an invitation rather than an obligation. Here, the colors and textures of Middle Eastern life are quietly hinted at in the decor, offering subtle cues to the culinary journey awaiting inside.
Beyond the calm ambiance, El Jamil reveals its true heart through food that speaks softly yet wholly—each dish a quiet conversation between freshness and tradition. Whether it’s the warmth of freshly baked pita served alongside a creamy labneh infused with garlic, or the intricate layering of spices in tender grilled lamb, the menu invites exploration beyond the familiar. Flavors arrive with a freshness and precision that suggest care and dedication, drawing you into a thorough understanding of Lebanese culinary artistry.
This is not a place for rushed meals or fleeting tastes. Instead, it feels like a home away from home, where everyday ingredients are given respect and presented with thoughtful attention, inviting guests to savor every bite and every shared glance. The convivial spirit here is subtle — a sincere nod to Arab hospitality that extends beyond the food onto the service, making you feel truly seen and welcomed.
In a vibrant city like Mexico City, El Jamil quietly holds a special kind of space—one that invites discovery, nurtures connection, and reminds you how much joy can be found in simple, honest dining moments.

Beautiful location with a patio next to nice tree lined streets. Nice decor and atmosphere but the food is really the best part. Super fresh Lebanese favorites prepared and presented with care. The flavors and presentation were terrific. The salads fresh and zesty. Fatousch was amazing. Tabouleh awesome. The grilled meats still juicy and not over done. The piping hot bread was a terrific accompaniment to the flavorful dishes. Finish it off with a not too sweet but delicious baklava and a mint tea. Yum. What a nice meal. And the service wonderful and friendly. Highly reccomend.

Absolutely incredible! I can confirm, you’ve never had Lebanese food like this before. I highly recommend the shawarma and the roasted cauliflower. Although, anything you might order would be killer.

El Jamil in Condesa is an absolute gem that delivers the most authentic Lebanese cuisine I've experienced in North America. Being from Dubai and having dined at countless Lebanese establishments, I can confidently say this restaurant ranks among the very best. The hummus and bazenjan El Jamil were exceptionally fresh and bursting with flavor – each bite transported me back to the authentic tastes I remember. The shish taouk and lamb keftah were nothing short of heavenly, perfectly seasoned and mouth-wateringly juicy. Every element showcased the kitchen's masterful technique and attention to detail. The pistachio baklava deserves special mention – absolutely delectable and the perfect sweet finish to an outstanding meal. Beyond the incredible food, the ambience is wonderfully chic, creating the perfect dining atmosphere. A special compliment to the owner, who took time to chat with us and was a complete gentleman. His hospitality truly enhanced our experience. I highly recommend El Jamil to anyone seeking exceptional Lebanese cuisine in Mexico City – this place is an absolute must-visit!

The whole experience was fantastic - the food was high quality, with genuine and authentic Lebanese dishes. The menu offered a wide selection yet refined enough to ensure all dishes get the proper attention they deserve. Special mention for the labneh and pita which were both the best I have ordered at any restaurant, and clearly freshly made. The service was really outstanding - we felt genuinely cared for and our needs were always attended to, without having to ask. The owners couldn’t have done enough for us and made sure to check in with my friend who was Lebanese. You could really feel the sense of community and authenticity, and genuine commitment to providing high-quality food and service. Will absolutely return! El Jamil is now one of my favourite restaurants in CDMX.

Simply wow! True Arab culture and authentic Lebanese food. The menu is fully Lebanese, and the atmosphere is amazing. Even though there weren’t many Arabs present when I visited (besides myself), I really appreciated the authenticity and genuine Arab hospitality. I ordered the labneh bil toum, hummus, warak arish bil lahmeh, and kibbeh el Jamil al fahem everything was a solid 10/10. Highly recommended!

From the moment we walked in, we felt welcome and taken care of. The staff was incredibly accommodating, the atmosphere was warm and inviting, and every single dish we tried tasted amazing. Service was truly exceptional and it ended up being the best meal we’ve had in CDMX so far. Such an underrated spot that deserves way more recognition. We’ll absolutely be back!
